Complete Re-piping

Galvanized steel pipe was used in home construction up until the mid 1960's when copper pipe became more common as local building codes changed. If your home was built prior to 1970, there is a good chance it was plumbed with galvanized steel pipe. The problem with galvanized pipe is that it can build up layers of rust, choking the pipe like a clogged artery, pinching off water flow.

Re-piping is the only reliable and permanent fix for problems caused by galvanized systems. Replacing your old galvanized pipe with copper or modern plastic systems, like PEX, will ensure good water pressure and cleaner water.

But re-piping is a time consuming process that can leave your walls riddled with access holes. It's certainly not a DIY project. Nor should you trust anyone but a licensed and bonded contractor.  The wrong contractor could cost you thousands of dollars more than it should.
