Whether you need a medical gas system for your practice, or to supply an entire hospital, Zuiderweg has the expertise to install and maintain it for you. Medical Gas systems require a special plumbing license. Not every plumbing contractor has this license, so be careful when choosing a contractor for your job.

Zuiderweg is fully licensed to install medical gas equipment including breathable air, oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitrogen and medical vacuum systems.  In fact, to obtain a medical gas license, a plumbing contractor must first obtain a PL1 Commercial Plumbing license. Don't trust your medical gas system to anyone without the proper licensing.

All Zuiderweg medical gas installations are third party inspected for workmanship and purity. Did you know that some municipal building inspectors are not certified to inspect medical gas systems? They rely on third party inspectors to approve the job. Zuiderweg works with licensed and approved certifier Nitrox Inc. to supply these inspections. With Zuiderweg's expert installation, and a Nitrox certification, you are assured of receiving sign-off from your building inspector.

What should you look out for in a quality medical gas installation? ask your contractor the following questions:

  1. Are they licensed for medical gas?
  2. Is their work inspected by an NFPA certified inspector?
  3. Is the system a palletized compressor system? A palletized system comes complete with everything your medical gas system needs pre-installed on a metal pallet. That way the equipment manufacturer ensures the system is correctly designed and built for your needs.
  4. Is all of the gas pipe and fittings "clean and cap" copper? Clean and cap pipe and fittings come sealed from the factory, ensuring your installation is pristine.
  5. Are all connections made using brazing? Are all pipes purged with medical grade nitrogen? Medical gas systems require silver brazing instead of regular soldering. Purging with nitrogen prevents oxidation on the interior of the pipe.
  6. Does the system include zone valves? Zone valves allow you to shut off service to unused offices or entire wings.
  7. Does the system include adequate emergency shut-down control valves? Does it include the correct number of monitors? Emergency shut down valves ensures the safety of your building and its occupants in the case of an earthquake or fire.
  8. Is their work guaranteed?

Of course, Zuiderweg can answer each of these questions with one word: Yes.  It's easy to get started. Give us a call at 360-435-5929.
